How can I fix an unreachable target?

Learn how to resolve connection issues between HostedScan and your target

Last updated on 13 Jan, 2026

An unreachable target is one where HostedScan was unable to establish the necessary connection for scanning. There are a few common reasons for this:

  1. A typo in the target. An invalid URL or a domain name without DNS records cannot be scanned. Fix: ensure that the URL, IP address, or fully qualified domain is correct.

  2. The website is not up. Fix: ensure that the website is running properly and you can open it in your browser.

  3. A network or firewall is blocking the traffic from the scanners. Fix: Configure your network to allow traffic from HostedScan. See https://help.hostedscan.com/help/what-ip-addresses-are-used-for-the-hostedscan-vulnerability-scanners for full details about the IP addresses used by HostedScan.
